gemma28birthday

CONGRATULATIONS and best wishes to darling daughter Gemma on the occasion of her 28th birthday, today on Sunday 22nd February. And you know what she did on her birthday? She sat an acupuncture exam in London. And another one yesterday, so she was swatting up like crazy all the way to London. Oh dear! But that does show grit and determination, you have to admit. Loads and loads of love from mom and dad. x x x
PS: And she doesn’t look a day older than 19!!

bloganastasia9746e280a2e280a2CAN’T let this pass without comment! Our friend, Anastasia (with an unspellable Moldovian name) got married in Malta today, Sunday 22 Feb and Angelo (from Gharb in Gozo) attended as best man. All of us bent over backwards to try and find her a husband, hell, even Angelo almost offered himself even though he was still married to someone else. She needed help, and eventually help came. Dear, dear Anastasia! We love you and wish you all of the best, and a happy life in Malta, married to whatshisname…

A Different Perspective

Posted in Worthy of Note on February 20, 2009 by aurick

IF YOU woke up this morning with more health than illness, you are more blessed than the million who will not survive this week.

IF YOU have never experienced the danger of battle, the loneliness of imprisonment, the agony of torture, or the pangs of starvation, you are ahead of 500 million people in the world.

The wisdom of Rumsfeld

Memorable Quotes by ex-Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld:

“Reports that say that something hasn’t happened are always interesting to me, because as we know, there are known knowns; there are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns; that is to say we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns – the ones we don’t know we don’t know.” Read more »

Stop all the clocks

Posted in Poems & Suchlike on February 19, 2009 by aurick

Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone,
Prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone,
Silence the pianos and with muffled drum
Bring out the coffin, let the mourners come. Read more »
